Show Second Preston Bank to Open I Town Expects to Get Electric Line, Has I Ball Team and is Whooping Things. I PRESTON, IDAHO, May 18. At a meeting of tho board of directors of tho Idaho Stato and Savings Hank held yesterday, bids on the cost of erection of the new bank building were opened. Tho contract will not be let until after another meeting to be held today. It Is expected that the bank will open up for business In Its new homo somo time In July. The building build-ing will bo a substantial structure of two stories and will stand Immediately Immediate-ly south of Rltcr Rros. building on Stato street. At The Academy. The Invitations are out for tho commencement com-mencement exercises which will tako place on the 21th and 25th. President Joseph F. Smith Is expected to bo in attendance Prof. Richard R. Lyman, of tho University of Utah, will deliver de-liver the address to tho graduates. There arc being sent out to tho patrons of tho Academy some small pamphlets outlining tho work which will bo set forth In the new circular for 100(1 and 1007. On Friday the second year normals will give a dancing party. This party will bo the last of tho regular bimonthly bi-monthly parties to be given this season. sea-son. There will bo several parties, however during commencement week. The eighth grade class has ordered a fine new banner to cost about $20 00. The banner will be here for com-msnecment com-msnecment exercises. It bears the motto, "Mako way for the class of Won." Preston Is to become the terminus of an electric railroad which will run between hero and Ncphl, Utah. It Is understood that an electric railway and power company was organized this week for the purpose of operating such a road. Tho company Is financed by English capltillsts, there being a number of prominent Utah and Idaho men Interested In the project as well. Tho power will be obtained from a number of Immense plants to be situated along tho lino of the road and also from Snako river. , -" Last Saturday tho equipment of the baseball team arrived. Although It was raining quite heavily the boys could not refrain from getting out and trying tho now things. Tho game which was scheduled to come oir between be-tween Weston and Preston was postponed post-poned until Saturday on account of tho storm. The meeting which was appointed on that day for tho purpose of organizing a local league was also postponed nntil two o'clock Saturday. A pleasant surprise party was given at the homo of Principal John Condlo of the Central school last Friday night. The affair was given by the teachers of tho Central School and was In honor of tho departure of Mrs. Condle and her sister, Miss Pendleton, who leave In a few days to spend their vacation with friends and relatives In Utah. A very enjoyable timo was had by all present.
