Show I Kick From Third Ward H Want Certain Improvements, And Object H To Removal of School Teachers. H A correspondent from the Logan H Third ward lias been observing condl- H tlons down there and scuds the follow. H lug news, with suggestions: M With the opening of spring there Is H the usual disposition to build and lm- H prove on every hand among the poo- H pic. Enough money has already been H subscribed by the good people of the H ward to repaint our meeting house H with three or four coats of paint. H Improvement Needed. H .1. (icsscll, of 1'rovldcnce, Is erect H Ing a brickyard on an extensive scale, H c(iuippcd with the latest and best ma- H chlnery, which will employ several H men during the season1. Wo welcome H Mr. Ocssell and wish him most splcn- H did success. The plant is located near H the railroad and will have the advan- H tngc of a switch for delivering coal at H the yard and loading brick for ship- H ment. Now that he Is locating In 01 r H city limits with his enterprise, we H owe him, and also the people, some H consideration. The roads leading to H the brick yard are In very poor condl- H lion, and need repairing, and Fourth H West street, between Fifth and Sixth H' North streets, should bo opened and H made available for use at once. These H arc matters of Importance for our city H council to handle and, should be at- H tended to without delay. H Wc have a host of lovely, Intelligent H little children as can be found In any H part of thu city, and they are con- H stantly Increasing In numbers If the Hi increase continues at the same rate It K will not be long oefoic an addition K will have to bu built to our school H house H A m Kick. H During the past year Mr Clark and Mrs. Dp vies have been the teachers of the children at our two-room Ellis school, the former having Intermediate Intermedi-ate grades, the latter primary grades. They certainly have the love and good will of the children, who have made most splendid piogress under their tutelage. The parents In this district arc ery much pleased and entirely satisfied with the work of these teachers. teach-ers. No word of complaint have 1 heard from anjone, nothing but commendation. com-mendation. No one Is able to Judge the work of a teacher better than the parents of the children. Wo may not bo able to Judge the modern way of be-lectlng be-lectlng good school teachers, but wc are much pleased and satlsllcd with the progress made In our children during dur-ing thn passing school year. Wc have had some good school teachers In the past but nono better than the present teachers. Now, through the actions of some one, they have had cause to resign. Whatever tho cause, wo do not approve ap-prove of It we condemn It. The bal-anco bal-anco of the school year Is lost to our children no matter how good the teachers replacing them may be. Tho change of work, change of method and chango In everything and everybody around the school, they cannot get used to the change before tho close of the school year. Why was the change made? Js It the fault of the school board In some way, Is It our young city superintendent, or Is It due to some Jealous, tattling, underhanded busybody who'hasan axe to grind? If It Is the latter, loot them out if In a position to do so. This matter should be probed to the bottom and explanation made before th's will be satisfactory to the people here. If there arc to bo changes forced forc-ed on us for the next year, the school board and superintendent will have to be careful and furnish teachers equal to those forced out.or bo subject to the most severe criticisms. The people here can heartily recommend Mr. Clark and Mrs. Davles. ' FA lit PLAY. |
