Show The Big Roller. Tlui eighteen-ton steam roller for tho city streets came up from Ogden Thursday night. It would have come here the day before, but It appeals that there was some little misunderstanding misunder-standing between the railroad agent at Ogden and the Logan council com mittee. Tho commlttco labored under un-der the Impression that the agent said he would load the big buggy, but he didn't load It, and when Inquiry was made he said lie had only agreed to furnish a man to help load it. The mover who had taken tho roller to the station then asked fpr the contract to load It, and Councilman Stevens asked ills price. "$50 to load or $82 to load, and unload on the return trip " This was a stumper for a minute, but Mr. Stevens, who has done some loading and unloading of heavy machinery, said he wou'.d try another man Ho tclophbned and linally got a gentleman not a grafter one who agreed to do the work for $10 and ho did It. Tho roller Is hero, and It cannot be denied that tho committee has done some good work in getting It here at such little cost. |
