Show At Indianapolis Mr. Bryan indulged in a lot of demagogy concerning the methods of raising campaign funds. It was a very cheap kind of demagogy. He was addressing the League of Democratic Dem-ocratic Clubs and he appealed to the delegates to raise money, saying th"t the Republicans drew from the trus-s on an understanding that the favor would be reciprocated in the form of legislation. In other words he charged the Republican party with raising money corruptly. And he was addressing address-ing an organization that had just elected elect-ed W. R. Hearst president and Marcus Daly treasurer! If those two men do not know and resort to every means of raising money, no matter how corrupt, they can get all the advice they need from Croker. |
