Show March moisture fall reaches .91 of inch of the Parowan Canyon road, to the extent that the State Highway Department Rotary snow plow had to be called on last Friday and Saturday to help out. We understand that with the snow now piled up to near ten feet on the sides of the road in Jinney Beck and Bear Flat stretches, regular road equipment just couldn't push it out wide enough for two lanes and the rotary was called on to throw it over the top to widen the traffic lanes. In the meantime, we understand un-derstand that the resort has been having some very good skiing days for so late in the season, last Saturday being reported as a near record day. There is plenty of snow for the sport and some new snow has been coming each day up to last week end's clearup. While there have been several sev-eral storms during the past two weeks, many of them have brought only traces of moisture, that is until the one of Tuesday of last week, which brought -41 of an inch of moisture, mostly as snow, says Clayton Rasmussen, weather-station caretaker. A storm earlier brought us .21 of an inch of moisture and the one Sunday brought us .29 of an inch.. This makes the total for March up to Tuesday Tues-day morning .91 of an inch. But this has not been the case up in the higher mountains moun-tains according to Brian Head patrons and road maintenance workers. During the last four weeks, almost five feet of snow has come to that resort, with 26 inches of snow coming com-ing up there on the past week end, it is stated. The rush of these late snow, storms has complicated the road picture up at the head |
