Former SUSC student will represent Nevada in Miss America Pageant A Southern Utah State College graduate will vie for the title of Miss America when she represents Nevada at the national pageant. Sherri Ann Lowe, a 21 year old blonde who graduated from SUSC in June with a BA in family life and sociology, was crowned Miss Nevada recently. She twirled batons with fluorescent lighting and fire for her talent number, a talent she displayed at SUSC as drum majorette for the SUSC Marching Mar-ching Band. The new Miss Nevada reigned as the 1972-73 SUSC Homecoming Queen. She told Nevada reporters that SUSC faculty members Jack L. Stokes, assistant professor of behavioral and social sciences, and Ada D. Carpenter, chairwoman chair-woman of the department of family life exerted the most influence on her while at SUSC. She is the daughter of Melvin and Betty Lowe, North Las Vegas, formerly of Richfield. She is a graduate of Rancho High School, Las Vegas, and plans to continue her education at the University of Nevada. |
