Show LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor, Not having a job this summer and my wife only working part time we have been doing a little traveling close to home. When we would get the breakfast dishes washed and the lawn watered we would head for the hills and the hills sure are beautiful this summer. The meadows are green and covered with a million flowers of every color of the rainbow and some besides. What a blessed and beautiful land we live in where we can go in a short while and see the country that some people come long distances to see. A few days ago we went up Cedar Canyon and stopped at the place where you can look down into Zion Canyon. As we stopped a car stopped and the people got out to see why we stopped, a man came over to where we were and stood for a minute and then turned and said" That sure is a lot more beautiful than anything in Minnesota". We talked for a few minutes and he asked about the country and we were glad to tell him and told him about all the wonderful places we have here in our back yard so to speak. He said they stayed in Cedar Cioty the night before and said what a nice clean town it seemed to be and how friendly the people at the motel, the cafe and service station were. He asked about the industry, in-dustry, the college, the schools, farming and real estate, the size of the town and said he had been told how the town was growing. He seemed to be interested in this part of the country but maybe he was just curious but you never can tell as other people that we have heard of have come here on a visit and have come back to live. The way the town is growing is really amazing to a native son like my wife and I. And no doubt the City Fahters are pressed pretty hard to keep up with the growth. Water and sewer, curbs and gutters for the new subdivisions sub-divisions and streets for the same. I don't think there is any other place in the state that can compare to this part of the country close to Cedar City for good climate, sure we have a few cold days, a few hot days but on the average it can't be beat. To paraphrase, you have so much and value it so little. D. L. Matheson. |
