Show COMMENTS For the past two months, Parowan city ofiicials have been stressing the features of the Parowan City dog licensing licens-ing ordinance, and just what its purposes in the control of I dogs in the community. Last week under the council's orders, or-ders, printed slips explaining Section 5 of that ordinance were enclosed in the city's bills for power and water. If you didn't get one, this is what it says: i "It shall be unlawful for I the owner of any dog to per-I per-I mit the dog to run at large or to be off the owner's premises unless it be under the control of a competent person at all times while off the premises. Any dogs found running at large or off the owner's premises prem-ises may be summarily disposed dis-posed of." The way we interpret that section is that dogs are not supposed to bo let run at large at any time, whether licensed li-censed or not. It would appear that dog owners have no right to let these animals run at will to trample their neighbor's neigh-bor's gardens and flower beds, litter 'up their lawns or chase their animals. This is one part of the city dog ordinance we feel should be enforced. In looking over Hie results 'of the state mat meet at Heb-er Heb-er City last week, we come up with the following ideas of what should be done in this high school activity. Here goes: Tiny should make the same division in wrestling that we now have in basketball and football; Class A and 3. If they did this, the schools w aild have finished this way in that meet. Class A, U-ntih, Delta, Union. Un-ion. Morgan, Hurricane, Wasatch, Wa-satch, Grantsville, No. Summit, Sum-mit, So. Summit, Emerv, Grand land No. Sanpete. In Class K: Parowan, Mon- tieello, Piute, Wayne, East Carbon, Gunr.ison, No. Sevier and Panguitch. Divide it and these schools would enter the Class B meet, such as Beaver, Milford, Kanab, Panguitch and Gunnison , who now field teams. Then in this area of the state probably Enterprise ,Bryce Valley, Escalarte, Valley Val-ley and others of related sie. Its a good activity for these boys who can't make the basketball bas-ketball squads, who are too small or too heavy lor that sport but who would still like to stay in competition. Have you watched it grow in the Parowan High School? Watch it next year in this area. ! While talking on the mike i during the awards present a-I lion Saturday night in the' Cedar High gym, the speaker was stressing the importance c." the marching group competition. compe-tition. One spectator wondered wonder-ed if you cculd fill every seat in the house, as its was that night, at $1.25 a seat, if you th rowed the basketball teams out of the show. A thought: who pays the cost of all the glass breakage that occurs when a group of college students goes on 1he rampage when they can't have their own way? |
