Show Cedar City hosts Slate Class B Hoop Tourney One of the mast exciting 'sporting events in t li.e stale is currently being held in Cedar City. It is the Class B state basketball bas-ketball tournament, conducted by the Utah High School Activity Ac-tivity Association and ho. ted this year by Cedar High School. There is nothing more ex-citing ex-citing than high school basketball bas-ketball and the State Tournament Tourna-ment brings together the top 1( teams from throughout the stat.? in the schools classified as Class B, or with student enrollments under 199. Games got underway Wednesday Wed-nesday with all 16 teams 1 playinjj in cignt games which began at 10 a. in. with l'ari; City meeting .'.rtn i.'.-w.or and winding up with a game at 9 p. m. wall Tabiona meeting meet-ing l'anguitch. I Three teams from Region Eight are included in the 16 team tourney. Tli.?y included the Parowan Rams, Kauab Cowboys and Enterprise Wolves. Favored in the tournament is tough South Sevier Kams with Monticello ranked as tlvs team most likely to upset the Kams' applecart. Other teams in the tournament tourna-ment include Piute, Duchesne, St. Joseph, East Carbon, Dug-way, Dug-way, South Rich and Bryce Valley. It is the first tournament in the history of the UIIAA for the smaller schools since the division this year of the state into three classifications. It also the first time for a major state basketball tournament to be h.old outside of the metropolitan me-tropolitan area of the Wasatch Was-atch Front.. |
