Show Couples enjoy tour to Hawaii Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Prestwich, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kenney, Mr. an( Mrs. Frank Petty, Mr. and Mrs. Giles Bolander, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Heywood recently returned from a trip to the Hawaiian Islands. The Cedar City couples were part of a tour sponsored by the Sons of Utah Pioneers, which left Los Angeles February Feb-ruary 27. Their first stop wa.s the Island Is-land of Hawaii, where they toured the Volcanic Park, ate dinner in a lodge on the rim of a volcano, and stayed in the city of Hilo. The coastal lines, bays, Km, .twin .1 Un..4tf..l uunt-iK-a, anu ui'auiiiui jiiuuii- tains were enjoyed by the couples on all the Islands, but especially on Maui. This was the second island to be toured tour-ed and featured sugar cane fields and pineapple plantations planta-tions among its other beauties. On the Island of Kauai, a trip up the River Wailua to the Fern Grotto and the beautiful beau-tiful waterfalls will long be remembered. The remainder of the time was spent on the Island of Oahu, which is the most cos- mopolitan island and features such cities as Honolulu and Laie. In Laie, the group visited the LDS Temple, the Church College of Hawaii, and the Polynesian Cultural Center. The couples attended a session ses-sion at the temple and had lunch at the college. Among the other sites and activities seen by the Cedar City couples was a beautiful show, "Invitation to Paradise." "Marvelous" was the way the couples described their trip. They report that they j particularly enjoyed the "warmth and friendliness of I the marvelous people" they I met on the islands. |
