Show Track-baseball teams meet in Las Vegas j Spring sports at- College of Southern Utah swing into full gear this week with baseball and track acivities on tap. Coach Cl.?o Petty and his baseball crew headed for Las Vegas and southern California Califor-nia for six games this week end while the CSU track and f'.eld team under the direction of Coach Steve Lunt will head for Nevada for a meet at Las I Vegas. The basortall tearrvmot ina double header with the I versity of Nevada at Las Vegas Ve-gas (Nevada Southern) Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon results of which were not available at this writing. Thursday they will be in southern California for a double header against California Cali-fornia Western. Friday the T-Birds T-Birds will be at San Diego to m.2et the University of San Diego in a single game,- a 9 inning affair, and they will wind up the series Saturday I afternoon with a game against ' the potent Marine Corps. De-' De-' pot before returning home. I Track team will participate ' in a three way meet at Las Vegas, Nev. Saturday against UNLV and Victory Valley College. Col-lege. Both teams will be hard pressed in competition against .them as they have had ample opportunity for outdoor work. CSU's baseball crew will take a three loss record into the six game series, and will be meeting competition that has been playing a regular schedule of games for the past month and one-half. Weather conditions have hampered both groups and their respective strengths are i not known at this time. The baseball squad, should 1 be tougher than last season, according to Coach Petty, but lack of pracice making hitting particularly an unknown factor fac-tor at this stage of the game. CSU's baseball team faces a 32 game schedule this season, which will be heaviest during the month of April. Seven meets have been scheduled by the track and field team. First home games for the T-Bird baseball crew will be April 3 against Rangely College Col-lege and Weber State College. Fans of track and field will have their first look at the T-Birds thinclads on May 3. when CSU will host UNLV, Dixie and Snow in a four-way meet at the CSU stadium. I 1 |
