Show BPW Club hears conservation appeal The regular dinner meeting meet-ing of the Cedar City Business Busi-ness & Professional Women's Club was held March 12th at Sullivan's Cafe. President, Mrs. Clara Knell presided and greeted members and guests. Mrs. Catherine Crichton, Chairman, and her committee on Civic Participation was in charge of the program. Mrs. June Larson entertained with a violin solo "Meditation" from the opera "Thais." Her accompanist was Mrs. Evelyn Eve-lyn Joneo. Mrs. Crichton introduced Dr. Wesley Larson, Dean of the School of Science at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah, who lectured on "Conservation". He touched on the history development, aspects, and problems in Utah and our country as a "whole. It is not new and many of our laws on conservation have been in force hundreds of years, having hav-ing come from Europe in the 1500's. Dr. Larson urged us to be vitally concerned and to write to our legislators, voicing voic-ing our opinions. Miss Georgia Beth Smith announced the "Salute to Youth" Conference to be held March 29th at the College of Southern Utah. The topic will be "My Responsibility to the Future." It is for High School seniors from Cedar City and all the surrounding High Schools. |
