Jeff Bulloch of Artie Circle hurled a three hitter for the shutout victory but it was a blow by Steve Jens-en of Arctic Circle that spelled the difference dif-ference as he belted a home run in the second inning for the only run of the game. Arctic Arc-tic Circle collected only two hits off Kevin Cox of Elks who suffered the loss. One of the best played games of the season the game . that includes only five hits combined for both teams was also errorless in the field with the big belt accounting for the only score. Jaycees moved into third place in the standings by scoring a 9 to 2 win over Jones Motor during the week. Jaycees Jay-cees took a 6 to 0 lead at the end of the third inning and coasted to the victory. Dane Leavitt and Kim Lister were on the mound for Jones and it was Kevin Averett and Ken Urie sharing mound duty for the winners. Lions moved out of the cellar cel-lar Friday night when they scored a 35 to 5 win over Jones Motor in a marathon. Although Al-though hits were the order of the day for Lions, Mont Miller .was Ihe big hitter with six hit in- six trins to th.p nlate including three doubles. Keying Key-ing Jones of Jones Motor tripled trip-led in the contest and Mike Cardon also belted a triple for Lions. Lions scored 12 runs in the first inning of play. Monday opening game of the second half was cancelled owing to a water soaked field and action began Tuesday in the continuing battle for honors. |
