Show California Drama Educator Guest Director Shakespearean Festival Three Year Acting Veteran Returns The 1968 Utah Shakespear-ean Shakespear-ean Festival, to be staged July 15 through Aug. 3 at College of Southern Utah, will have as guest directors a noted California Cal-ifornia drama educator and a three-year acting veteran of the Festival, it was announced announc-ed by Fred C. Adams, founding found-ing director of the annual Shakespearean event. Dr. Brian Hansen, recently appointed as senior consultant in theatre for the Central Midwest Mid-west Regional Educational Laboratories La-boratories with headquarters in St. Louis, Mo., and Sabin Epstein, director and choreographer choreo-grapher of 21 major university univer-sity productions, will direct "Merchant of Venice" and "As You Like It," respectively. The third production of the season will bo "Romeo and Juliet," directed by Mr. Adams. Dr. Hansen, a native of Pasadena, Pa-sadena, Calif., received a Bachelor Ba-chelor of Arts degree from University of California at Los Angeles, a Master of Arts degree de-gree from Cornell University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from University of Minnesota, Min-nesota, where he also taught in the speech department. He served as a teaching assistant at Cornell and has taught at Washington State University, Universiy of California , at Santa Barbara, and San Diego State College. He is a member of the American Educational Theatre Association and American Federation of Teachers, and has published articles in a number of professional journals. jour-nals. In his position with CEM-RAL, CEM-RAL, Dr. Hansen will serve as a liaison between professional profes-sional theater and educational education-al theater in promoting research re-search toward improved dramatic dra-matic arts curriculum and theater appreciation in elementary elem-entary and secondary schools. The organization is a private, non-profit research group sponsored by the United States Office of Education. Dr. Hansen is married to the former Patti Edor of Santa Barbara. They are the parents par-ents of two sons, Kevin, 8, and Kai, 6. i Mr. Epstein is completing graduate work in theater at University of California at Riverside and has also studied at Tulane University. ' In addition to his directing credits, Mr. Epstein has appeared ap-peared in some 23 plays including in-cluding Festival productions of "Hamlet," "Two Gentlemen of Verona," "Merry Wives of Windsor," "King Lear," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Taming "Tam-ing of the Shrew," "Julius Caesar," "Comedy of Errors," "As You Like It," and "The Tempest." !
