Show Iron Rangers Sponsor July 4-5 Rodeo Events One of the highlights of the Independence Day Celebration Celebra-tion in Cedar City this year will be the 13th Annual Amateur Ama-teur Rodeo, sponsored by the Iron Rangers Riding Club. Two days of rodeo activities have been planned for Thursday, Thurs-day, July 4, and Friday, July 5, at the arena in Cedar Can- yon. Grand Entry each evening even-ing is slated at 7 p. m. According to J. J. Miller, president of the Iron Rangers, the organization thls year is also planning a special memorial mem-orial to one of its members who passed away during the past year. He is Douglas Clark, and a special tribute will be payed to the former member. Events each evening will be calf roping, team roping, bareback bare-back riding, bull riding, and women's barrell races. In addition to purses offered in each of the events, an added add-ed purse on bull and bronc riding will be offered and at the conclusion of the two days of rodeoing a trophy buckle will bo presented for the Best All-around Cowboy. Deadline for entry will be Wednesday evening, July 3. Reigning over the rodeo events, and other events of the Iron Rangers during the coming year, will be a lovely queen and two attendants. They were named in recent competition, and Miss Mary Lambeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Lambeth of Cedar City, was selected as queen. Serving as attendants will be Miss Paula Clark, as first attendant, at-tendant, and Miss Connie Bryant, as second attendant. Miss Clark is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Clark, and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Bryant are parents of Miss Bryant. Co-chairmen on this Amateur Ama-teur Rodeo are Ross Woolsey and Gaylen Berry. Other officers of-ficers of the club are V. . R... Magleby, vice president; Rod--ney Slack, secretary; and Brent Woolsey, treasurer. Admission for each evening of the rodeo will be $1 for adults and 75 cents for children. chil-dren. Children under 6 will be admitted free of charge. In addition to the rodeo events, the Iron Rangers will also be giving away a color TV set as a prize in their drive for funds to help ren-novate ren-novate the Iron Bowl Race Track and Rodeo Grounds south of Cedar City. Members of the organization organiza-tion are making contacts throughout the area for donations don-ations for this worthy event, and on the final night the winner of the television set will be announced. |
