Show $1000 Donation Received By Utah Festival Sen. Wallace F. Bennett, R-Utan, R-Utan, last week presented a total of $50,000 to nine Utah institutions including the College Col-lege of Southern Utah. $20,000 was donated to the U.ah Symphony Orchestra, $5,000 each to four Utah hos-puals hos-puals to purchase computerized computer-ized medical diagnostic units and $1,000 went to the College Col-lege of Southern Utah for use of the Utah Shakespearean Festival here. The gifts brought to $100,000 the total Utah's Senator has distributed statewide in the last two years as a result of contributions made by Edward Ball, industrialist and philanthropist philan-thropist from Jacksonville. Fla., and his sister, Jessie Ba'-. Dupont. In 1966, Mr. Ball, who makes philanthropic gifts for educa-1 tional, health, and cultural activities ac-tivities across the United States, asked Sen. Bennett to help him distribute contributions contribu-tions in Utah. A total of $50,-000 $50,-000 was presented at that time. This year Mr. Ball and his sister, Mrs. Dupont, sought Sen. Bennett's advice and guidance as to worthy Utah public causes. In addition to the $20,000 g'ft for the Utah Symphony 1 Orchestra, which matches an 1 identical $20,000 contribution a year ago, funds will go to: $3,500 to Utah Civic Ballet $2,500 to Utah Boys Ranch: $1,000 to the Utah Shakespearean Shakespear-ean Festival: $3,000 to the Utah United Fund; and $5,000 each to Thomas Dee Memorial Ho-D!taI, Ogden; Primary Children's Hooital. St. Marks Ho-nital. and Holy Cross Hospital, Hos-pital, all in Salt Lake City. Sen. Bennett pointed out that Mr. Ball is a trustee of the estate of Alfred I. Dupont. The income from the estate is largely devoted to public purposes. |
