Show Clean-up Campaign Begins in Parowan Only a dream? Not at all! Just whole-hearted cooperation and honest effort from every man, woman and child will give us a tidy, attractive town to match the wonderful people of the com munity, states the heads of the clean-up and beautifica'ion ram-pKign ram-pKign in Parowan. They continue: We have a good set-up for accomplishing this ideal, within our civlr? and social clubs, together with church and school organizations. Each group will be given a specific responsibility respon-sibility to follow through. Officers Offi-cers representing the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Gun and Rod Club, schools, church, American Ameri-can Legion, City Planning Board, with the mayor and city council will act as co-chairmen comprising compris-ing the clean-up and beautifica-tion beautifica-tion committee. Block captains arc being ap pointed who will contact the residents res-idents on their block, and decide de-cide as a group, what can be done to improve their own area. This, with particular attention to sidewalks, ditch banks and street edges adjacent to each piece of property will improve the looks of each block. Perhaps it will be necessary to call in extra help if owners are physically unable to improve their property, or where there is an unusually bad cleanup clean-up problem. Special groups will be on call to assist in such cases. It is planned that prizes will i vo giver: the block sr.i street showing the greatest improvement, improve-ment, also the home showing the most attractive grounds. Of special and immediate concern con-cern to your beautification committee, com-mittee, are: 1. The north and south approaches ap-proaches into town (including all of Main Street), because of travelers tra-velers who pass through and judge us by what they see on each side of the road. 2. Center Street from the First-Second Ward church to the canyon road, because of increasing canyon traffic over the new road to Cedar Ce-dar Breaks. 3. Also 100 North from the elementary school to the race track where traf'le is heavy through school months and during the Iron County Fair and Race Meets. Your committee earnestly seeks your 100'r cooperation in this all-out City Beautification drive. Here is an opportunity to unite as citizens to life our community communi-ty morale. So that we can point with pride, to the results of our hard work. For, as Brigham Young put It, "Without vision, the people perish." |
