Show State-WMe Interest Focuses On Annual Rock Show The Trades and Industries Building on the campus of the CoIIprr of Southern Utah will be a beehive of activity this weekend. week-end. Beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, the fifth annual Rock Show, sponsored by th Cedar City R':" Club, will attract hounds, ruin-eraloglsts, ruin-eraloglsts, gem enthusiasts and students from Utah and Nevada. President Morris N. Bird, general gen-eral chalman of the show, announced an-nounced today that the exhibit will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 11, 12, and 13. Zella Matheson, In charge of registration, will see that someone Is on hand at all tunes to show visitors outstanding exhibits ex-hibits and to answer questions. Colored slides and a black-light black-light exhibit are special new features of the ahow this year. Displays of local rock hounds will be augmented by those from clubs visiting from the Salt Lake City area. Participating groups will be the Utah Mineralogical Society, Tlmpanogos Gem Society, Soc-iety, Wasatch Gem Society and a club from Las Vegas. The Latter Lat-ter two clubs are coming en mAo, visiting the Cedar City show as their monthly trip. Qlmax of the show will come Sunday when the Rock Club, under un-der the chairmanship of Bernard Leigh, will conduct a field trip to the iron mines and to the Newcastle geode area for local and visiting club nembers and other Interested persins. Parley Dalley Is in charge o the displays for this year's show, with Alva Matheson and Lau rence Cooper conducting the special spe-cial features. Donna LeSeur and Inez Cooper are publicity chair men. The Business and Professional Women's club of Cedar City met at the Airport Cafe Wednesday evening, Sept 9. Guest speaker was Sen. Charles R. Hunter and he talked on the subject of National Security. Committee members were Ruth Cane, Vella Stephenson and Leo ra Hahne, who conducted the meeting. Two accordion solos were play, ed by Zelda Eager. Beautiful fall flowers were arranged ar-ranged by Nettie Morris and Edna Ed-na Sargent All commltee chairmen and their members for the coming year were announced by President Presi-dent Shirley Maughan, at the meeting. |
