Show Local Guardsmen Choose Miss 213th. 1956 Royalty to' Reign' Over 2nd Annual Military Ball Monday evening members of Headquarters Battery. 213th FA Bn., were treated to an exceptional exception-al display of talent as contestants contest-ants competed for the coveted title and honor of "Miss 213th" for the present year. Miss Jackie Winterrose. Miss 213th of 1955, acted as hostess for the three lovely girls during their stay at drill, introducing each girl to the men of the National Guard unit. Competition numbers presented by the prospective queeens included dancing and an organ recital. After seeing each girl perform the 90 men and 10 officers of the local unit selected Miss Eleanor Adams of Parowan to reign as queen with Miss Jeri Smith and Miss Janet TUnnigan of Cedar City as attendants. Miss Adams, a popular student at Parowan High School, is active ac-tive in church and student body affairs, and has been a queen attendant at-tendant to the Queen of the Iron County Fair. Highlights of Miss Adams' reign as "Miss 213th" will include in-clude her presiding over social functions of the Guard, such as the AnnuaJ Military Ball. Birthday Birth-day Party. Toy Dance, and social so-cial activities connected with governor's gov-ernor's day during camp in June. Next month she will be flown to Salt Lake City and there be entered en-tered In the state-wide "Miss Utah National Guard" contest. This contest will be held mostly In Hotel Utah where all contestants contest-ants will live together for three days in suites provided by the Utah NatlonaJ' Guard. The highlight high-light of this contest will be the Queens' Military Ball at the Rainbow Rain-bow Rendezvous where Miss Utah National Guard will he crowned. According to Lt. David A. Melville, Mel-ville, pans for the local m'.'ltarv ball are progressing very well with ticket sales indicating this vear's ball wHl be one of the best attended dances ever held by the loca.' unit. Townspeople are reminded to pet their tickets from any "Guard" member and be on hand for this outstanding social event. Refreshments will he served plus a very outstanding floor show with "Pinky" Webster acting as mister of ceremonies. The date to remember is Friday. Fri-day.
