Show flshcroft Named President Of ICR Conference Theroti Ashcroft, College of Southern Utah faculty representative represen-tative to the Intermountaln Collegiate Col-legiate Athletic Conference, has been installed as conference president pres-ident for the coming year. He had served as vice . president of the conference during the past year, and automatically stepped up to the presidency at the annual conference con-ference meeting in Salt Lake City Friday. A number of business matters were discussed at the conference session, with perhaps the most important item considered being a proposal that the two division system for basketball competition be eliminated and a schedule drawn that would make it possible possi-ble for all teams to meet on a home and home basis during each season. The coaches were particularly anxious to have this type of a schedule adopted because of the competition advantages. However, How-ever, one major obstacle, that of financing the heavy travel cost created by long distances between be-tween conference members, must be solved. Definite action was not taken. Instead the proposal was tabled pending further study during dur-ing the summer, with final action to be taken in September. The conference includes, besides be-sides the College of Southern Utah, Dixie, Snow, Carbon, Westminster, West-minster, Weber, Ricks and Boise Junior colleges. |
