Show LETTER TO THE EDITOR AS 1 SEE IT Isn't it funny that last year our congressmen and senators discussed McCarthyism, now they have the Yalta and Potsdam - agreements to quarrel about. It seems to me that the leaders lead-ers in our government shouldn't should-n't have any secret agreements, but should be above board at all times, and let all the people know what they are doing. As I remember Eisenhower was sitting sit-ting in on one or both of those secret meetings. I'm scared stiff about the trend our government is taking. You know that Russia has the incentive incen-tive payment for its farmers and livestock people, and we have the same on our wool. Russia's heavy industry is controlling that country, coun-try, and the heavy industry in our country is gradually beginning begin-ning to take over our government. govern-ment. Yet, we seem to be fighting fight-ing communism. I wonder just how sincere our leaders are. It seems that Eisenhower and our agriculture department, after they have sent all of our money over to Europe, are determined to give Europe all of our business. I say let's have a fair trade instead of a free trade. Congress has allotted the agriculture ag-riculture department something over a billion dollars for the coming com-ing year,' which it will probably spend in the form of literature, crop and livestock statistics, and reports, which will do the farmers farm-ers and livestock people very little lit-tle good. K S U B, you know, i has a program "Morning on the Farm," yet, they don't ever mention men-tion the farmer. On these programs pro-grams they could tell the people that the farmers and livestock men are getting less for their products than they did in 1932; (and that more and more people are going out of business every 'year. . j As I see it, we had all better start fighting hard to preserve our American way of life and to j protect our industries here, be-' be-' cause if we remain strong so will the rest of the world. Clarence Lamoreaux P. S.: I think the Republicans were double-crossed in the last 'election because Republicans I don't believe in free trade. |
