Show City Street Oiling Program ToBeginSoon A street oiling program will begin in Parowan within the next few weeks according to a report by Mayor E. Ray Lyman, with the program to include eight city blocks reaching out from Main street The project will be done by the city employees employ-ees and equipment for the most part and should be completed in a week or 10 days after actual oiling is started. The city will' have the gravel hauled onto the streets and prepared pre-pared for mixing with the oil which is also being furnished by the city. The mixing will be done be the machine which is mixing the oil and gravel for the street oiling project in Cedar City at the present time, and which is scheduled to come here when that job is done. After the oil is mixed with the gravel, the oil and gravel mixture will be laid by city equipment. Mayor Lyman states that the money for the project is available avail-able in the streets and sidewalks lund now, and it is hoped that a similar project can be undertaken under-taken next year. Streets to be done are 200 South between Main and 1st East; 100 South between Main and 1st East; 200 North between Main and 1st East; 300 North between 1st West and 1st East; 400 North between Main and 1st West; and 100 North between 1st and 2nd West streets. Alsq the newly opened alley running East from the Parowan Conoco service will be oiled. This leaves Center Street West from Main, but this is a County road and the city council will ask the county to stand the expense ex-pense of oiling this street at least part way to the edge of the city. |
