Show Addition to Parowan High School Approved by Board The Iron County Board of Education Ed-ucation gave final approval for plans for an addition to the Parowan Par-owan high school building, and has issued a call for bids for the construction work. The call for bids appears in this issue of the Iron County Record, with the bids to be opened on Friday, Aug. 22. If satisfactory bids are received it is hoped that actual construction work can be under way by the end of August. Work on the building will be rushed as much as possible, in hopes that the exterior work can be completed before winter weather sets in. The new structure is so planned plan-ned that it will not interfere with the use of the present facilities fa-cilities during the 1952-53 school year. Plans have been prepared by L. Robert Gardner, Cedar City architect, and they are so drawn that the new addition can be constructed con-structed first and then connected connect-ed with the old building after the new section is completed. The addition to the building will double the size of the basketball bas-ketball floor, and also double the seating capacity of the gymnasium. gymnas-ium. It will also provide considerable consid-erable expansion in the mechanic mechan-ic arts department, increase the dressing room and shower facilities, facili-ties, and provide additional class rooms. . The school board has not only asked for bids on the general construction work, but also for demolition work, gymnasium seating, installation of steel lockers, basketball backstops, a folding partition, mechanical and electrical work. The mechanical work includes all plumbing, roof drainage, heating, including the installation of an additional boiler, and ventilating. The electrical elec-trical work will include the rewiring re-wiring of the woodworking shop, wiring of all new construction and the installation of lighting fixtures |
