Show Local Guard Unit Changes Name and Weapon Only , two months after being activated as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 213th Armored Ar-mored Field Artillery Battalion, the Cedar City National Guard unit was again subjected to activation ac-tivation ceremonies Tuesday evening, eve-ning, Dec. 1, when Lt. Col. Frederick Fred-erick R. Redden from the Utah Military District in Salt Lake City appeared before the unit to inspect its qualifications for activation ac-tivation as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 202nd Field Artillery Battalion. The significance of the change in designation lies 'not so much in name, but in the calibre of the weapon with which the firing fir-ing batteries of the 202nd will be equipped, according to Capt. E. T. Woolf, Battalion Commander. Command-er. As the 213th, the unit was equipped with 105 mm howitzers. As the 202nd, the unit will be given the 8-inch howitzer, a larger weapon capable of delivering deliv-ering more devastating fire, Capt. Woolf explained. |
