DARYL CHASE Rumors that have been circulated circu-lated in Cedar City recently that Dr. Daryl Chase, director of the Branch Agricultural college, now the College of Southern Utah, may be appointed president of the Utah State Agricultural college, col-lege, were given at least partial verification Saturday, when he was called before the Board of Trustees for an interview on his qualifications for the position. Although Dr. Chase has made no public statement regarding the possibility of his receiving the appointment, and apparently apparent-ly he has not filed an application applica-tion for the position, he has been prominently and frequently fre-quently mentioned as a possible new president, since Dr. Louis L. Madsen was released from the position in March. Whether there was any board consideration given to the question ques-tion of naming a new president at the State college before Saturday Satur-day or not, inquiries and remarks re-marks made by various members mem-bers of the board has indicated that at least individually the members of the board were considering con-sidering Dr. Chase as a possible candidate for the position. Three other prominent educators educa-tors were interviewed by the board Saturday, and no indication indica-tion was made as to the possible final choicce, but most certainly Dr. Chase is among those being seriously considered for the appointment. |
