Show COMPETITION TOO STRONG AT MEET The members of the B. A. C. five-man five-man track team sent to the National Junior College Track and Field Meet at Phoenix. Arizona last week, turned In exceptional performances, each one doing his best work of the season However, because of the exceptionally strong competition competi-tion encountered at the meet the Broncos managed to win only one place. Bob Nowers, freshman pole vault-er, vault-er, placed fourth in the pole vault event, topping the bar at 12 te;t 6 incehs, his best jump of the year. The event was won, however, with a 13 foot 6 inch vault, and two others went higher thai) Bob was able too. Dan Lindsby cleared 6 feet 3 Inches In the high Jump which should be good enough to win easily easi-ly in this conference, but twelve men bettered that mark at the na- ! tlonal meet. The event was won with a 6 feet 6 inch jump. Lindsey aLo turned in good times in the hurdle events, but could not qualify. Bunny Fullmer ran the 100-yard dash in 10 seconds flat the best time he has made, and better than any Intermountaln Jaycee sprinter, but could not qualify. Clark Mathews threw the javelin better than 18 feett which was not good enough to place. This was won at 192 feet. Dahl Oleave was forced out la th discus as Mathews was In the javelin. |
