Show Stars Gather Here For UCC Meet Track and field athletes from Dixie. Dix-ie. Carbon, and Mesa Junior colleges Westminster college and the Branch Agricultural college will gather at the B. A. C. stadium Friday night to compete for Intermountain Junior Jun-ior College Conference honors. Tni Is the first time the conference meet has been held anywhere but on a senior college campus, and the first time it has been attempted at night, the events being scheduled for Friday night and under the lights on the Bronco stadium. I Although Snow college was sche- I duled to participate In the meet. It I is understood that the school has not filed eligibility cards on Its entrants, and therefore they wllll not be eligible to compete. The meet rules provide that all eligibility cards must be Tiled with the secretary secre-tary of Hie conference by May 1. and Hie Snow coach or official have failed to do this. Coach Murray Maughan's team will be highly favored to win the conference title for the thiru straight year but there wUl be plenty plen-ty of competition in every event, since the other schools offer some outstanding men In practically every event. The Bronco squad is strong In nearly every event, however, and should pile up a safe margin for itr third title. Tennis championships will be held In connection with the meet, with matches to start at 8:00 a. m. Friday Fri-day on the college courts. Lindy Nlelson, Rulon Woodbury and Del-mar Del-mar Janson will represent the Broncos Bron-cos on the court. Although the meet has been announced an-nounced for a night time event, thi preliminaries will be held In the forenoon. The schedule calls for preliminary heats In the 120 yard high hurdles, 100 yard dash, 440 yard dash, 220 yard low hurdle, and 220 yard dash, beginning at 10:00 a. m. Preliminaries In the discus, dis-cus, shot put, javelin and probably probab-ly the pole vault will also be held in the forenoon beginning at 9:43 A. M. The finals will be run run off at night with the first event, the mile run, scheduled to start promptly at 8:00 p. m. |
