Show B AC Broncos Take Sound Beating From Carbon College Team Local football fans who haa visions vis-ions of the Branch Agricultural college col-lege football team making a runaway run-away race of the Intermountaln Junior College conference, received receiv-ed a rude shock when the Carbon Eagles walloped the Broncos 40 to 6 in the opening game of the season sea-son played on the Carbon gridiron at Price. The Broncos were rated as the finest team ever to represent the local school, but the Eagles had little difficulty In pushing over counters when the two teams squared off in the opening encounter, which turned turn-ed out to be a rough and tough battle that put at least seven Broncos Bron-cos on the sidelines with Injuries. Fumbles were numerous on both sides, partlcuarly In the the early stages of the game, but the Broncos Bron-cos mlscues were more costly than those of the Eagles, and contributed more than anything else to the downfall of the Broncos. The victors vic-tors pushed over two touchdowns before the game was five minutes old, both counters being scored after the Eagles had recovered BAC fumbles deep In Bronco territory. After scoring thirteen points In the opening period the Eagles were held scoreless until the half, but added thirteen points In the third period and 14 In the final canto, while the best the Broncos could do was push over one counter in the final period, when Dan Llndsey, who turned in an excellent performance, per-formance, carried the ball over. Coach Maughon used every man on his squad In the encounter, with some of the non-starters turning in the best games. Ward Mlddleton, one of the lightest men on the squad, turned in an unusually fine game at tackle, while Charlie Woodbury, Wood-bury, did a very nice Job at end, and Dale Roberts, halfback, improved im-proved his chances of breaking into starting line-up in future games. Jerry Ooddard, husky guard from California, turned in one of the top performances of the game, and promises to be one of the most dependable de-pendable line-men.
