Show $3,000 Damage Done By Two Cedar City Boys Damage estimated at about $3000 Is the record of two Cedar City children nine and ten years old, as the result of the escapades of the two boys in the past two weeks, according to City Police Chief Ai-thur Ai-thur Nelson. The two boys, Allen Haslem and Robert Hulse, started their ser.es of escapades about two weeks ago when they turnd a railroad car loose at the freight yards and. allowed al-lowed it to roll to the stock yards where it crashed into an engine and completely wrecked the car. Arrangements were made to bring the boys before the District Juvenile Ju-venile Judge on October 22nd, and they were released to the custody of their parents. However, they did not stay out of trouble long, Mr. Nelson reports because Friday they broke into the municipal pool and did damage estimated es-timated at about $300 to equipment and furnishings at the pool. The safe was badly damaged and In addition furniture was taken from the office and thrown into the pool, Mr. Nelson reports. The boys were then taken into custody and were being retained at the Juvenile department of the city Jail awaiting the arrival of the Juvenile Judge. Monday, Mr. Nelson reports, Probation Officer John Foster Fos-ter went to the Jail and released the boys, instructing them to go to school. Instead of going to school tiiey are alleged to have gone to the new home being built by Fred A. LaFrentz on the highway South of town. Here they went to work on the windows, breaking practically every window in the building, Including those in the adjoining garage and a recreation room. Two of the windows win-dows were large plate glass panes and will be extremely expensive to replace. The glass was broken out of two or three doors, and wooden bars in the garage door were broken out. In addition the boys took paint brushes and dobbed paint all over the plaae, Inside and out. The damage has been estimated at between be-tween $500 and $800. Mr. Nelson reports that the boys will definitely not be permitted to go free again until they are brought before the Juvenile Judge on October Oc-tober 22nd. |
