Show Business Firms Offer BAC Scholarships Firms and individuals of Cedar City have already contributed 12 $50 scholarships to the Branch Agricultural college, which is more than half of the number given last year, according to an announcement made this week by Dr. H. Wayne Driggs, director of the college. The total is expected to equal and maybe exceed the number awarded last year. These scholarships scholar-ships pay all but one dollar of the tuition for a year's schooling school-ing to deserving students returning return-ing to the college. Scholarships are set up in the various fields of studv. and are awarded on the basis of work during the previous year, citizenship, citizen-ship, scholarship and contribution contribu-tion to college-community living, as well as financial need. Details of the award program this year are being worked out by the college with John S. Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, chairman of a sub-corn- mittee to coordinate the giving of the scholarships. The awards will be presented at commencement commence-ment exercises on May 18 by Dr. Driggs. Firms and individuals presenting pre-senting scholarships last year year: Safeway Stores, Bank of Southern Utah, Utah Poultry Association, As-sociation, Arden Dairy, Cedar Lumber and Hardware, Southern Utah Clinic, L. M. Jones Equipment Equip-ment company, Cedar and Parks theatres, Bradshaw Chevrolet company, Cowley Drug, Cedar Finance, Fi-nance, Southern Utah Power company, and I. E." Riddle and Sons company. Special awards were from the A & Z Produce company, BNS-BAC BNS-BAC Alumni association, Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, Thorley Motor company, and E. O. Muir company. |
