Show Death Claims Aged Parowan Lady Wednesday Mrs. Laura Lyman Clark, 78, active ac-tive church and community worker work-er of Parowan, died Wednesday a;iernoon at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Lou Nelson of Cedar Ce-dar City, from ailments Incident to age. Mrs. L'yman had been seriously ser-iously ill for the past month. Aunt Laura, as she was affectionately affec-tionately known by her relatives and friends, was born in Parowan 011 Aai-jst 19, 1865. a daughter of Anusa Mason and Paulina E. Phelps Lyman, early Iron County pioneers and prominent members of the L. D. a Church, Mr. Lyman hav. ing been a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles under Joseph Smith, founder of the church. bhe spent her early life in Paro. wan where she married Porter Vander Van-der Clark in 1883. The couple moved mov-ed to the old Johnson Fort Ranch, now known as Enoch, where they sptnt the early years of their msr-rifcd msr-rifcd life dairying and where Mrs. Clark became well known for her carpet weaving. Mr. Clark died In im. Selling the ranch In 1907, Mm. Clark moved to Cowley, Wyoming, where she lived for several years, warning- to Parowan In 1911 where she resided until 111 health made it necessary for her to come to Cedar City about a month ago. An active worker In the L. D. S Kelief Society, Mrs. Clark was 9ko well Tcnown for her nursing, the sick of the community, belly nlways ready and willing to assist 'vl.enever possible. The mother of seven children.. M. Clark had thre sons who volunteered vol-unteered and served In the United Stalf s armed lorcet. during World . Wai I, and at present eight of her siandsons are serving In World War II. and a ninth, Vander Nelson, left this morning for Salt Lake City where he expects to be Inducted Into the army. Three of her seven children preceded her In death. They were: Collins L., Lyman P., ind Roswell w. Clark. Siirvlvors Include two sons and Iwo daughters as follows: Porter Amasa Clark and Mrs. LeJIa Nelson of Cedar City; Mrs. Nellie Dalton of Cowley, Wyoming, and Clarence Wills Clark of Woottland.
