Show Red Cross Chapter Turns Out Large Volume of Work The Iron County Chapter of the American Red Cross has done an enormous amount ot work during the past six months, it was reveol-cd reveol-cd in a report released today bv Mrs. Theo Anderson, secretary of tne chapter. According to the report, 3,303 articles have been made or repaired by the local chapter since July 1. It use include 589 garments sewed for able-'ooded membes of the United States armed forces; 1,409 Garments for use In the U. S. army hospitals; i knitted garments; 804 filled kit bags for use of servicemen going overseas; and 480 articles re-paiied re-paiied by the Service Mothers for the members of the 316th College Training Detachment stationed In Cedar City. In addition to this, 27 Nurse's Aids h ive given 252314 hours of help at the Iron County hospital, and the Production Corps has given 1505 hours of service during the month of November. Mrs. DeMar Bowman, production chairman of the Iron County Chap, tcr, announces that the chapter still h:is a plentiful supply of yarn to be knitted Into various articles and that anyone wishing to help out is urged to call at the Red Cross head-quitters head-quitters located in the Southern Utah Power Company building. Immediately after the New Year-, according .to Mrs. Bowman, Uve chapter will have a great deal of sewing to be done and she urges that every woman who can spare a few hours to assist with this very worthy work volunteer to help out. At the present time the chapter 1 in need of sufficient heavy cotton cot-ton or woolen material to make 200 shoe polishing cloths to go Into tlie kit bags which will be presented present-ed to each service man embarking tcr overseas duty. The good por-tljns por-tljns of woolen or cotton blankets, bathrobes, trousers, etc. will answer Uj purpoie very well, and an appeal ap-peal Is made for citizens to donate such pieces. Contributors are reminded re-minded that the material donated mist be clean inasmuch as the chap-ter chap-ter has no facilities for washing or doming. 1:1 connection with the appeal made last week for small paper-bound paper-bound mystery and adventure books to be Included In the kit bags, the hsponse has been very gratifying and officers of the Red Cross ex-pre.' ex-pre.' their appreciation for the books that have been brought in. However, in order to fill the kit bags that are now on hand, it will be necessary for the chapter to obtain ob-tain a great many more books and citizens having any they wish to contribute nre urged to do so at once. The women of Iron County are to be congratulated on the excellent excel-lent support they have given the Red Cross, both In time and material, ma-terial, and lt is hoped that the work will continue so that Iron County will be able to remain at the head of the list In production per capita.
