Show Service Men Farewell Program Tuesday Mite . i Cedar City men who will leave for military service during the month of August will be honored ac a farewell program Tuesday night, August 18th announces Ned Sargent, Sar-gent, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the organization organ-ization sponsoring this month's program. The program will feature addresses addres-ses by Colonel H. A. Rich, State Director of Selective Service in U-tah, U-tah, and Grant Redford of the Branch Agricultural College faculty, fac-ulty, representing the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Colonel Rich will visit the county coun-ty upon the Invitation of the County Coun-ty Selective Service Board, and will deliver talks hi Cedar City and Parowan, discussing details of the selective service act as a means of informing local people on this subject, sub-ject, and to clarify questions that have arisen In the minds of people since the act became effective. The meeting in Cedar City will not start until 9 p. m., the later hour having been decided upon In order to allow al-low Colonel Rich to talk in Parowan Paro-wan before coming to Cedar City. Mr. Redford will pay tribute U the men leaving Cedar City tills month to enter the nation's' turned forces, and to those who are already serving. The State Guard will participate in the program, presenting the colors col-ors at the opening of the meeting, and retiring them, as the final number of the program. The honor roll of the qedar men in the service ser-vice will be read by Warren H. Bulloch, chairman of the Iron ! County Selective Service Board. The balance of the program will Include invocation by President David L. Sargent, two numbers by the Third Ward Sunday School quartet, and a trumpet solo by Rex Christensen, and the singing of "America" by the congregation. Every Cedar City resident ls urged to attend as a means of showing his appreciation of the sacrifice the honored young men are making in answering the call to defend their countryf |
