Show Defense Council Organizes Civil Protection Groups Preliminary discussions of the organization or-ganization of the Protective Division Divi-sion of the Iron County Civilian Defense Council were held at a meeting last evening and the first steps of the organization taken. The meeting was called by S. F. Leigh, Defense Council Chairman, and Sherman C. Lamb, Commander of the Protective Division, with Ray Adams, executive officer; F. B. Wood, Dirk Middleton, and Warren Bulloch, Staff officers, and a number num-ber of others in attendance. Cedar Ciiy was divided into eignt sectors, over which Air Raid Wardens Ward-ens will officiate and in which complete protection organizations will be set up. Six or the eight Wardens were named last night, and the other two will be named In Hie near future. Those appointed were Sid Porter, Theo Cony, Ivan Orton, Wallace Macfarlane, Lehl M. Jones, and DeMoine Jone;,. Afton Grant will supervise activities activi-ties in the southeast part of town. Each Warden will name his own Assistant Warden and four fire watchers, to man and patrol his sector in the event of an air attack. City Police Chief Arthur Nelson will supervise the auxiliary police through the central control station with Marion Orames, City Fire Chief, responsible for the central control of all fire fighting activities. activi-ties. Ernest Greer will have charge of the first aid training or rescue squads, and will also supervise all communications." A large number of people have volunteered their services and will be appointed to responsible positions posi-tions as the organization can be effected. After all appointments are completed, the workers will be given giv-en detailed Instructions, after which they will be responsible for the instruction of citizens in the sector. |
