Show Grazing Service Opens Many New Roads Near Here The U. S. Grazing Service reports that through the service's Access Roads Fund, a total of 58 7 miles I of roads have been constructed in ihe Virgin Grazing District, wrccu Includes Iron and Washington Counties. Of major importance is the road recently constructed South of the Newcastle road across the neck or the desert to Iron Mountain. The road has ten miles or heavy mountain moun-tain construction with surfacing of two and a half miles, it was constructed to lacllltate the opening open-ing up or new mining areas which will be used extensively for diamond drilling and prospecting. Sometime ago a short direct road jWas constructed from Iron Moun-! Moun-! tain to the Junction east of Newcastle. New-castle. This road has shortened considerably con-siderably the distance from Newcastle New-castle to Cedar City. It Is under-1 under-1 stood that this road is to be taken over by the state and rerouted lor a new state highway. The road hlch was constructed some time ago rrom Lund to the Fire and Fluorspar Mines In Pine Volley have been graveled and are being maintained In first class condition. con-dition. These mines are In active operation sniping considerably tonnage ton-nage of strategic minerals to the smelters in the northern part of the state. Funds hae been appropriated for construction to the coal mines in the right hand fork of Cedar Can-ion. Can-ion.
