Show Funeral Services p Held Today For i John C. Carpenter , Funeral services v.ere held In the ; Cedar First ward ch.ipel this at- ; ternxm for John C. Carpenter. 69, local wool buyer, livestock man and ! former hotel operator, who, died ; Monday morning following an 111-ne:s 111-ne:s from a paralytic stroke. He had been in poor health for more than a year. Mr. Carpenter was born in Glen-dale, Glen-dale, Kane County, a son of John S. and Eliza Cutler Carpenter, and resided there until about 1922 when he moved to Cedar City. He engaged engag-ed In the cattle business during the early part of his life, and later operated op-erated a store in Glendale. During his residence In the Kane county community he was active in church affairs serving In a number pf auxiliary aux-iliary organizations. After moving to Cedar City he engaged In the sheep business for come time, and later purchased the Cedar's hotel which he operated for some time. In recent years he has been an active wool buyer. He Is survived by one son, Monte Carpenter, of Salt Lake City, his widow, Mrs. Annie Lavanger Carpenter, Car-penter, having died about two years ago. The funeral services were conducted con-ducted by Bishop William Snow, with the members of the Elks Lodge conducting graveside services. The speakers at the services were Alex H. Rollo and Charles R. Hunter. Invocation In-vocation was by David A. Smith, benediction by Ray Mlddlesworth. and dedication of the' grave by Bert Langford. John M. Brown conducted conduct-ed the Elk services at the cemetery. Musical numbers at the service included in-cluded vocal solos by Clive Hart-man Hart-man and Ray Cosslett. |
