Show B. A. C. Broncos To Open Basketball Wars Against Los Angeles Basketball fans of Cedar City will have their first opportunity to see the Branch Agricultural College Broncos in action Tuesday, December Decem-ber 17th. when the Coach Ray Lind-qulst's Lind-qulst's squad tangles with Los Angeles City College of California la the local gym. The game will start at 8:30 p. m. Coach Llndquist has been having his worries trying to cut his 35-man 35-man squad down to working size. As yet he is unable to give an indication in-dication of who will be the five lucky men to start against the Cal-ifornians. Cal-ifornians. Local fans have their own Ideas of who should get the call, but each fan seems to have a different dif-ferent idea, with the possible ex- ception of Chick Terry, who will undoubtedly be at one of the guard I positions. I There are a lot of promising men 1 on the big squad, some who have I played for the B. A. C. before, and 1 others who have made their repu- l tatlons in high school and in mill- I tury service. 1 I C. Miles, who played fine ball I at the local school before Joining I the Navy, Is back and will certainly 1 see plenty of action. Other Cedar I players who are back after military I service are Kay Nelson. Don Neeley, 1 Dick Dotson. David Urie, Don Dee 1 Seaman, Boyd Holyoak, Oall Wood- I bury and Dick Wlnterrose. Sandy Corry Is up from last year's Cedar l high team. 1 Besides Terry members of last 1 year's Bronco squad are Udell I Smith. Clark Mathews, Arland Pet-I Pet-I eson, Kyle MacDonald, Bill Brock -I mier, and Arden Allred. Jay Whipple I star of the 1944 team, is back after I a stretch in service. I Outstanding players from other I high schools who are battling for positions on the Bronco squad I are Ronnie Walsh, Nevada all-stat-l er last year, and Llndy Nellson of I Salina, and such boys as Eldon 1 Fullmer of Delta, Bruce Burr of I Blcknell, Nyles Humphries of Manti, Oene Woodbury of LaVerkln, Val I Church of Pangultch, Chad Parks I of Richfield, Morrill Maglcby of ! Monroe, Pete Delmlre of Panaca. ; Nevada, Bruce Wadsworth. also of Panaca, Orant Johnson. Monroe. Brian Turner, Loa; Ray Sabln. Cedar City, but formerly of Porters-tllle, Porters-tllle, California; Mclvm Lowe, Elchfleld; Ferd Christiansen, Mon-fie; Mon-fie; and Byron Hunt, star of last year's Enterprise high school team. Los Angeles City College will bring a strong quintet from a large school in a large city, to meet the Broncos but fast breaking, drinvlng brand of basketball of this area usually has been able to make a very creditable showing against teams from the Pacific Coast. |
