Show Sixteen B Schools To Participate In State Basketball Tourney After many years of waiting the small high schools of the state of Utah are to be given a break in basketball competition in the state, that state committee in charge having divided the championship playoffs into two separate tournaments tourna-ments for the first time In history. This is what the small schools have been hoping for. It was partially accomplished two years ago when the A and B schools were divided but tht state playoffs were held In a combined tournament. This year the B schools will meet in a sixteen six-teen team tournament to be held In Salt Lake City on March 13 to 16th., while the A schools will meet In an fight team meet In Ogden during the snme week. Previously drawn schedules made it impossible to hold the two separate tournaments tourna-ments on separate dates this year. Under the new arrangement three i teams from Region six, which Includes In-cludes Delta. Fillmore. Hinckley,. IMllford Beaver. Parowan, Cedar, Enterprise, Dixie, Hurricane, Or-dervllle Or-dervllle and Kanab, will enter the state meet. Region officials will determine de-termine how the qualifiers will be determined, and although no action has been taken on the matter as yet, the winners of the two district, dis-trict, Millard and Dixie, will go directly to the meet with the runners run-ners up meeting to determine the third entrant. Other teams will be selected as follows: Four teams will be entered enter-ed from Region 2, including the Jordan district winner and runner-up, and the Summit district winner, and a fourth team deter mined by a play-off between the Summit runner-up and the Rich c'lstrlct winner. Region three will rlso have four teams, Including the first and second place teams In both the Alpine and Nebo districts. Region 4, the Sanpete Sevier district, dis-trict, will have three, and Region 5, the Unitah, Duschesne, and Emery sector, will have .two. , |
