Show .Potato Growers Loan I Deadline December 15 Potato growers have until December Decem-ber 15 to apply for a potato loan on this years crop. J. M. Palmer, member of the Iron County AAA Committee said today. The Government Gov-ernment Is supporting the price of potatoes through the loan program. These loans can be obtained thru the county AAA office at Cedar City. While the loan rate of U. S. Number 1 potatoes In approved storage Is only 90 cents, any producer produ-cer who has a loan on eligible potatoes po-tatoes is assured at least $2 per hundredweight for U. S. No. l's In new or approved sacks f. o. b. cai for December. The December support sup-port price will remain In effect during dur-ing the rest of the loan period. Producers Pro-ducers will be permitted to sell potatoes po-tatoes under the loan at any time Total proceeds of the sale may applied on the note, but the borrower bor-rower must apply at least the loan value plus Interest at 3 per cent. If the market price is less than support price and the borrower decides de-cides to deliver the potatoes to tha Commodity Credit Corporation, such delivery may be restricted In any calendar month to 20 per cent of the potatoes placed under the original ori-ginal loan or one carload, whichever which-ever Is greater. That means that If a borrower has 5 cars of potatoei under loan and Is selling potatoes commercially, to be assured the full support price, he must offer to CCC 20 per cent of the potatoes tinder loan. That starts in December Decem-ber and continues during the loon period. All offers to CCC must be made by the twentieth of each month. No loans will be made a-vallnble a-vallnble on 1964 crop potatoes af-'er af-'er the 15th of December. Any farmer farm-er who wishes to take advantage of 'his means of protecting the prlc if the crop, must apply for a loan t the county office before December Decem-ber 15th. |
