Show MUSICAL COURSE FORJMRCIIY Strong Aggregation of Vocal and Instrumental Talent to Give Ten Weeks' Instruction. COURSE IN DANCING ALSO TO BE INCLUDED Company to Include Fred C. Graham, Spencer Clawnon and Other Celebrated Utah Musicians Lovers of music in Cedar City and vicinity, and those desiring to pursue advanced studies in this art, will be deeply interested to learn of the pro posed course of lessons to be given here next summer in vocal and in strumentfll music by a group of prom inent instructors from the northern part if the state, including Mt. Fred C. Graham, Spencer Clawson and other oth-er celebrates. This is the announcement which was riven to a representative of The Record Rec-ord by Mr. Graham, who recently visited vis-ited Cedar City and was attracted by the thrifty and progressive appearand' appear-and' of the city. It being suggeste to Mr. Graham that a course in dancing danc-ing would also prove popular here, he decided to include a dancing master in the quoto of instructors. It la proposed to begin the course on the first of next June and continue it for ten weeks during the summer Of course, their coming will depend to a ureat extent upon the amount of interest in-terest manifested by local people, and I he number of students who are wil ling to sign up for the course. Bui from expressions already heard on every hand there is little doubt but that they will receive ample encouragement encour-agement to justify their coming here Included in the group of artists will be one of the best violin teachers of the state, so that musically inclined tenons will have an opportunity of pursuing their favorite line of study, whether it be piano, vocal or violin nd by the addition of the dancing master the young and middle aged people of the place will have an op-pbrtunity op-pbrtunity of learning correct postures and the proper steps of the popul.u lances of the day. Last Tuesday while in the city, Mr Graham gave a private recital at the hotel, where he sang some of the mod-rn mod-rn popular songs, as well as some of the old favorite melodies, in his ex-i ex-i uisite tenor voice. He is our of the noted musical artists of the state and ill be accompanied by some of the ther best talent to be found within its borders. Mr. Graham estimates that they hould have at least sixty pupils foi the course, and thesei should not be hard to obtain out of a town which has already shown the interest and made i he advancement that has characterized character-ized Cedar City in a musical way. A feature of the course will be a public recital or concert once each week, which will give the entire popu lace an opportunity of hearing some of the best musical talent of the state, and will do much towards Stimulating interest in music on the part of the whole people. We understand that something similar sim-ilar to this is to be put on at Rich lield and possibly in other towns of the state, and Mr. Graham intimate haY this may be made a regular an iual feature here if they meet with the right kind of encouragement on this initial visit. |
