Show WHY CITY BONDS SHOULD BE VOTED Concise Statement of the Needs and Conditions of Cedar City System of Water Works. On Tuesday, the fith of May, an clec-n clec-n will he held for the purpose of voting on the honding of the city in the amount of $f0,00.00, the money for the same to be used for the installation in-stallation of a new water system in the place of the present one. The plans as now outlined, contemplates: con-templates: First: Removing the present sy tern, except where a new pipe is already al-ready installed. Second: Adding sufficient valves for controlling any section of town. Third: Taking up the small iron pipe and replacing it with adequate new pipe. Fourth: Putting in sufficient valves for controlling any pockets which later cause leaks. Fifth: Installing sufficient fire hydrants hy-drants so that any part of the city can lie reached and protected by the use of a 110 ft. fire hose and any part of the husiness section may be reached by two hydrants, each with a MO ft. hoae. Sixth: To add additional water for culinary and other domestic purposes. This will, when the leaks are stopped, fill the reservoir and give a surplus, which surplus will flow back into the creek, thus insuring excellent pressure pres-sure for fin- protection as well as relieving re-lieving the curtailment necessary at present in the summer time, and the 'inconvenience felt in the southern part of town of carrying water in buckets. It was first planned to use $7,500 for the installation of meters. Further Fur-ther consideration led to the conclusion conclu-sion that this amount could he used to better advantage to increase the , supply of water entering the system. The maintehance of the present system, aside from any improvements amounts now to about $2H00 or $3000 per year besides the water that is wusted through leaks and the unsightly unsight-ly mud holes in the streets. The interest in-terest on the bonds will amount at 8JSI to 11,000 and the sinking fund to $H,000. The interest on the sinking fund at 4'1 or 4V4' will be used to help pay the interest on the lionds. The first year at 14 amounts to $120, the second year to $240 and so on, until un-til the tenth year it pays $1,200 or one third of the interest, anil the lif teenth year one half of the interest on the bonds. The money will be spent as follows: 1st: 22,180 ft.
