There will I be a meeting of the board tomorrow at which 1 will presont your letter. I am glad to know that at least I something is leing done toward getting get-ting the right of way. We are being ' pounded on the back continuously by the Hanover Construction Company to I complete this title to the right of way I and furnish the abstracts. They have set aside the money necessary to fulfill ful-fill their contract and it seems to be ! very annoying to them to have to hold it idle all this time. There is I nothing between the beginning of con-i con-i struction of the railroad except this right of way. I would like to have you make a statement to all concerned that we are not getting this right of way for the purpose of selling what we have to anybody else. The Old Capitol Petroleum, Fuel & Iron Com-I Com-I pany is going to build that railroad 1 nnd will own it when it is built. The sooner the right of Way is under un-der contract the sooner construction will begin. All other stories and (knocking to the contrary notwithstanding. notwith-standing. Yours truly, N. A. Mr. Thomas Homer, the company's abstracter, und Mr. Hillman Dalley, who has been employed to assist in getting the deeds covering the right of way signed up, state that the work on titles is progressing favorably now, though there has been a lot of needless delay on account of cateless-MM, cateless-MM, indifference and in some few instances, in-stances, opposition on the part of t he-property he-property owners. Under the terms of the agreement under which the land is being taken over, the Comemrcial club, on in other words, the entire community, binds itself to compensate individuals for the land given over, and there surely can be no reasonable objection to signing up the deeds to be placed in escrow until paid for, under un-der these conditions. Sometimes we are led to wonder whether or not the majority of the people of Cedar really want a railroad, judging from the way a lot of them hairgle, dicker and hang back when the opportunity is presented present-ed to them in a legitimate, fair way. We certainly trust that there will be i no further delay from this cause, or we may lose our opportunity, after all. |
