Show STATELINE. Statellne, Utah, March 27, 1916. Mr. Bennett was again in Statellne Sunday paying us a visit, and attending attend-ing to other matters of business. R. C. Warnor is very busy these days on his ranch near here, getting things in shape for his spring crops. Mr. Tryon has been helping him for a fow days. Mr. Flinspach la making dood headway head-way on his mine. Dillard Lancaster is helping Mr, Flinspach and they say that they are pushing the work at the rate of from two to three feet a day. W. H. Perry came up from Modena last week and brought up Mr. I. C. Clark, a mining man from Salt Lake City. Mr. Clark came on business pertaining to the Ophir. Ho inspected i and sampled the mine thoroughly j from top to bottom, Mr. Perry took Mr. Clark .back .to tho railroad on the third dty'followlng. i l Tom Drake and Garncy Bennett' , went down on the Eicalante valley after four mules belonging to Mr.1 Bennett and Mr. Laycook. They came back the following day. Miss Lizzie Roberts, Jim Roberts' oldest daughter, Is a very busy young woman, for .besides attending school she has four younger brothers and sisters to look after, and the biggest end of the housework business. I I Ed. Peak, who has a lease on tho ' Johnny .Mine, will from all accounts j be here to start work on May 1st. Mr. i Peak knows the Johnny mine from A, to Z, and if anyone can make the I iJohnnny produce pay dirt, Mr. Peak is that Individual. "Casey Jones," the hound that belongs be-longs to Mr. Bennett, seems to be attracting at-tracting the attention of every body around here; for he seems to be a hound of unusual ability. They .say ho ran down seven rabbits the other day and ate six of them, but halted when he camo to tho seventh,. It is evident that Mr, Bcnett has given him a good Christian training and that he believes in observing the Sabbath. Mr. Roberts came up during the week from tho Espalante Valley and spent a night with his children and left again the following morning. Mr. Roberts has been doing a little work for Mr. Marsh, who has been locating land near Bryan Springs. Mr. Roberts Rob-erts sayB that he contemplates building build-ing himself a home at Modena and i will move his children down just as soon as school expires on June 1st. Mr. Drake, who got the ball of his eye cut some time ago with a sharp end of a baling wire, is now feeling better. He said for a while ho was afraid that ho might lose tho sight of his eye; but it is apparent now that his eyo was cut just above the pupil, and he can see all right. Mr. Drake is very jubilant that it turned out the way it did. He went over to Gold Springs to look after his business there the first of the week. Miss Rhoda Bryant says she stands higher than anybody In Statelinc not altogether from a social standpoint stand-point but as far as altitude is concerned; con-cerned; because she lives in the highest high-est house in town. She lives at an altitude of 6,977 feet and says she wouldn't care if it was as high as Government Peak, just so long as she got her mall. Nevertheless Miss Bryant Bry-ant is up in tho air over something (Statellne.) Mr. Buehl was up from his ranch in Hamblin Valley recently, where he has been keeping himself pretty closely close-ly for some time. Mr. Buehl hated to leave his work at tho mine, but the requirements of law and spring work coming on, Mr. Buehl took to the ranch, although Undo Sam would not be likely to be hard with Mr. Buehl, bocauso he is an old Civil war votoran. He went throijgh tho battle of FrccV ricksburg and Antietam and was in tho heavy fighting at Gettysburg. He was later transferred to Sherman's Sher-man's army in the south and was in many battles there. He was also In tho famous march to the sea. |
