Show COUNTY HOSPITAL BOND ELECTION Commissioners Fix Date For Next April, and the Amount at $15,000.00 The Record is disappointed at being be-ing unable to obtain the proceedings of the last County Commissioners' meeting for publication in this issue of the paper, but we presume that the clerk has been exceptionally busy on acocunt of the district court and other oth-er matters, and we hope to publish the minutes in full next week. Incidentally In-cidentally it is learned that an election elec-tion has been called for next April to vote on the questios of bonding the county for $15,000 to assist in the erection of a county hospital at this place. This is the maximum amount for which the county can he bonded at one time for this purpose, based on a levy of 2 mills on the asessed valuation valu-ation of something over $7,000,000.00. It is believed that with the aid of private contributions which already amount to several thousand dollars, a hospital that will meet the requirements require-ments of the county for some time to come can be erected and fairly well equipped. One unit of a satisfactory building could be erected and another added later when required, by another bond issue. Mrs. C. (i. Bell has pledged one thousand dollars for the hospital, with another thousand dollars deposited for use in some community benefit at the discretion of Dr. Macfarlane, and Drs. Macfarlane and Hergstrom are ready to put up $1."00 towards the en terprise in equipment and cash. Other Oth-er public spirited citizens have also promised their support of the undertaking, under-taking, and certain it is that the need for a county hospital is crying and imperative at this time. That the bonds will be voted is a foregone conclusion. In fact it is hardly possible that there will be any objection raised, particularly when the very moderate sum asked is taken into consideration. Full particulars as to the date of the election, etc.. will le published in these columns later. In this connection It is announced by Dr. Macfarlane that he has changed his plans for the future and has decided de-cided to remain permanently in Cedar City, a decision which has partially been induced by the prospect for a Bounty hospital here. It is his intention inten-tion to go East with Dr. Middleton next March and spend three months in post-graduate work at the leading hospitals, when he will return to his practice here. A part of this time, according to present plans, will be spent in Philadelphia wliere there are special advantages for some of the work they contemplate taking |
