Show H GERMANY'S MAN POWER H HP HE fact that the last two or three offensives H started by the Central Powers have lacked H the strength anl "pep" of the March blow, seems H to indicate that their man power is on the wane. H And it could scarcely be otherwise if any cred-H cred-H dence whatever can be placed in the press dis-H dis-H patches reaching this country. All the news cornel corn-el ing from the battle front for the past several H weeks seems to bear out this assumption. It be-H be-H ing admitted, then, that the heavy losses of th; H Prussians is beginning to tell on their effective-H effective-H ness, it naturally follows that, with the ever in-H in-H creasing number of Americans on the fightii g H line, it will be necessary for the Central Pttwws H in order to continue the war for any considerable H length of time to find a means of fdling up the H gaps in their organizations. Of course, there is H a new crop of boys coming on each year which H may possibly yied close to a million soldiers, not H more, for the military dictators have already been H cheating the youth out of their boyhood. There H is no use of increasing the draft limit the other H way, for it has already been extended to sixty, H and each year the men who did not come within H the age limit at first are getting a year older. Can H Russia be depended upon to supply the needed B man power? We fancy not; for if Russia had B been willing to fight she would have stayed in the H war on the side of the allies. And the indications H are that Russia may soon be back in the war, with H the aid of the Allies and Japan and China. H What chance of ultimate success can Germany B see in the war program then ? Not any, we fancy H unless it is the expectation that "Cot" will send H hosts from heaven to aid the Kaiser in his unholy H massacree of Christians. B Verily the German empire and its wild dreams HH of world power and the extension of the German H language and German "kultur" to all peoples of H the earth are fast crumbling. The curtain is being H drawn closer and closer about her, and before long H this blot will have been removed from the face of H the earth and some of the henious wrongs she H has committed in the pursuit of her unholy am- H bition for power. |
