Show JUDGE ORLANDO W. POWERS In the death of Judge Qrlando W. Powers the State of Utah loses another of its best known citizens, an able jurist and a strong booster for the commonwealth; common-wealth; and the Democratic party loses one of its most constant con-stant and consistent workers. Judge Powers was taken suddenly sud-denly ill with pneumonia while in California attending a conference con-ference of attorneys on a matter in which ho was engaged, and returned to Salt Lake only a few days beforo his death. The deceased has a national reputation as a criminal lawyer, andjn this line of legal practice had no peer in the Western country. A. hard student, an eloquent and witty speaker, he had the faculty of carrying his hearers along with him on any vein he cared to fpllow. Though as the leader of the Liberal party before the division on national party lines he made many enemies among the peoplo of Utah, he was so sincere and genuine when it was agreed to "bury the hatchet," that the old scores were wiped out and forgotten. for-gotten. Judge Powers will be remembered remem-bered as one of' the most able and brilliant citizens of thd .State of Utah, and one who has done much to obtain recognition for Utah in other parts of the nation, |
