Martin Slack, Jr., of Toquer-ville Toquer-ville came to Cedar City last Saturday, bringing 'his 'daugh-ter, 'daugh-ter, Miss Laverna Slack, up tc resume her studies at the B. A. C. Mr. Slack has done pretty well for the old Normal and the B. A. C. His two sons graduated from the Normal and are now employed as teachers, while his daughter, Miss Laverna, is in her third year. Mr. Slack says the Dixie country coun-try never looked better to him than at the present time. Every-thing Every-thing has a prosperous look, while all tho people have a more optomistic feeling than ever before. be-fore. The gentleman says that what the country needs more than anything else to bring out the best that is in it is good roads, and the signs point to. a great imrovement in the highways high-ways before the summer comes. The State convicts are now working in Washington county. When the weather moderates somewhat they are to be hrought up in the vicinity of Toquerville and make much needed improvements in that section. The state is going to build a steel bridge across Ash Creek in a short time. This is a much needed improvement and will be a great boon to the traveling public. A Mr. Christianson of Provo, has been down in that section.of sulphur hot springs located about four miles from Toquerville. Toquer-ville. The springs and ground around was owned by Thomas Judtl. Mr. Judcf did not care to dispose of all his holdings so the company took a two-thirds interest in-terest for which, it is stated, they paid $10,000. In a short time the new company will build a grand hotel, erect bath houses and in fact make a regular san-atarium san-atarium for the reception of all who are in need of the healing properties of the sulphur water. |
