Show WHAT wonderful! wonderful! weather. We never saw anything quite to equal it in this cli-, mate. As the mid-winter period draws near, it ' actually grows warmer and more pleasant. We Work in the middle of the dny indoors, with the windows or doors open, and an absence of fires. ' with the utmost comfort. We doubt if California Califor-nia or any other country on the globe can beat this much. But if it continues much longer it is going to put the old-time ice man, who depends upon Dame Nature to freeze his product, out of commission. For there is bound soon to be a big falling off in the demand for coal, and the ice mar will have nothing to sell next season. And this is not the worst feature of the case either. If we do not get some storms, the farmers will go mighty short of water next season, and if this happens, a lot of US may go short of food for man and beast. On the whole, we believe this weather is almost "too good" for the season of year, and we would prefer to put up with a few more rigors and see a better prospect for a fruitful season ahead. We are wishing now for a good snow for Christmas. |
