Show 1 APOSTLE RUDGAR CLAWSON INSTRUCTS THE CONFERENCE Sessions are Largely Attended and Trove Hoth Interesting and Instructive to Those in Attendance From Stake. The quarterly conference of tli' Parowan Stake of Zion convened in Cedar City tabernacle las! Sat unlay and Sunday, there being a large attendance of the saints from various parts of the stake in attend ance at all the sessions. President Wilford Day of Parowan, with his counselors, were present, as were ' most of the bishops. High Councilmen and officer of auxiliary organiMitoti. President Pay presided. 1 Apostle Rudgar Clawson of the General Church Authorities was present and delivered a number of aide and instructive sermons. The general stake Priesthood meeting was held In the tabernacle Saturday evening. The Stake Officers were presented and unanimous I) sustained. The session Sunday morning was principally d a pled to Sabbath School wrk The speakers at the opening session were Pres. Wilford Day, Pres. W. II. Lyman, Elder Samuel 1'. Leigh, . J. Mathe.ou, Uriah T. Jones. Morgan Richards. Their remarks were all of in inspiring ' and encouraging nature. Saturday afternoon the congregation was addressed Pres. Hugh L. Adams, Bishop Pace ol Harmony. Sister Julia Lyman of Parowan, Bishop Thomas Jones of Paragonah, Eider George A. Mitchell of Parowan, Par-owan, and Apostte Rudgar Clawson. The latter speaker speak-er occupied over an hour, his principal topi i 'lie immortality of the soul. At the Priesthood meeting Saturday evening the -take officers of the Mutual Improvement Association met with the Priesthood and received valuable instructions instruc-tions in their work, alter which the M. I. A. Workers adjourned to the Library auditorium, where dancing and other forms of amusement were indulged in, fol lowed by a tasty lunch. Leonard, Elder El-der Rudgar Clawson The teachings for the nm-i part were addressed to or in the interests of the children, child-ren, In his remarks Apostle Clawson use I a number i short stories to convey the lessons he desired to impart. At the closing session Sunday afternoon, after the presenting and sustaining of authorities, President Day expressed his pleasure at the good attendance during the conference, and voiced the attitude and determination of the stake presidency in keeping up the interest in matters religious. Instructor II. Claud Lewis of the B. A. C. talked by special rcque on the subject of Red Cro i work, and the remainder of the time was occupied by Elder Clawsoq. Those in attendance seemed agreed in a) in;; that it was a most successful and satisfying conference, and the saints returned to their homes, Strengthened and built up in then faith, and with renewed determination deter-mination to live their religion more nearly in the fu lure than in the past. Dr. Talmage is a deep student of relig- n as well as of every oilier subject that he delves into. His talks are always instructive and interesting, thii one being no excepti m to the rule. r |
