Show Bg M i ii 1 EVERYTH!MC READY FOR j . OPENING OF FAIR Prom reports received from Horace S. Ensign, secretary of 't the Utah State Fair, all arrange- ! ments have been practically 1 completed for the biggest and best fair ever held in the state. The directors of the fair, associa- tion this year have undertaken the work upon a much larger scale and with the assistance of Gov. Spry and representative I men in the various counties of the state have been able to make the representation cover practically practi-cally every resource and industry indus-try in Utah. The rapid growth f the state and the progress J and development being made are I - to be reflected in the fair this I year, and judging fiom the re- 1 ports being sent out each de- i partment of the big exposition I will be full of interest. I The erection of the magnifi- I cent new coliseum has made possible a mucn wider scope in W the live stock departments and the added facilities are being l used to the greatest advantage. I In the new coliseum are exhibi- i tion stalls for 200 head of stock, I and in addition even a larger I number can be accommodated in the sheds and barns outside. I The interest being taken in the I livestock division this year is possibly greater than ever be fore, and this department is sure a to be one of the features. I In the buildings devoted to I horticulture, agriculture, manu- I factures, women's work, fine arts, poultry, etc., the "same con- Idition exists, and the officials are having some difficulty in J finding space for all the exhib-' exhib-' its. The -new coliseum will be the center of activities in the amusement amuse-ment department, and it is promised that the best amusement amuse-ment program ever offered at the fair will lie presented this . ' year. The coliseum' has a magnificent mag-nificent stage and seats for 3500 people. In the center is an immense im-mense show arena, around which are the cattle and horse - - stalls. Two shows each day are I planned for the coliseum includ- jf ing the display of livestock and ' a big amusement program. 1 T On Monday night, the official - V opening of the fair occurs, and s HV the feature of the program will ?' be the grand "Carnival of Counties" which it is believed ( will prove to be the most specif spec-if tacular event of its kind ever ,$ - f seen in the west. Wednesday evening the Utah , '- Beauty Contest will be held and five competent judges will select ,! - the most beautiful girls among -i ' the queens and maids of honor ' representing the counties. Thurs-1l Thurs-1l dav, Friday and Saturday morn- " ing8 thelive stock auction will 1 be held in, the rew coliseum. j 9 Each afternoon during the fair will be horse races, with a big t j amusement program thrown in for good measure. Six of the K, " largest counties in the state are ' sending Military bands to furn-' furn-' isli music for the county days, and in every possible way pro-; pro-; vision has been made to fill each i" day of the week with something -' of extraordinary interest. The fair opens Monday September I 29th, and continues for the en-j en-j . tire week. |
